1945
IDEC Izumi Corp. founded in Osaka, Japan.
1969 IDEC Izumi entered into a joint venture business with
a San Mateo
based company, Rundel, which was later bought
out ITE (Gould Inc.)
1975 IDEC Systems & Control Corp. founded in Mountain
View. Main
products: relays, sockets and timers.
1978 Added control unit line.
1979 Purchased and moved into a 24,000 sq. ft. building on
Tasman Dr., in
Santa Clara. Began socket assembly.
1980 Installed an in-house H.P. computer system.
1981 Added circuit breaker line.
1982 Established first regional sales office in Virginia.
1985 Purchased and moved into a 50,000 sq. ft. building on
Elko Dr. in
Sunnyvale. Founded IDEC Canada LTD. in
Vancouver, B.C.
1986 Added IDEC Toronto sales office. Created PLC and
electronics product
groups in addition to control
components group.
1988 Moved distribution and production to a 72,000 sq. ft.
building on
Nortech Pkwy. in San Jose.
1990 Expanded sales territory to include part of South
America.
Izumi stock publicly held. Added Alabama sales office.
Added PLC line.
1991 Added Michigan sales office
1992 Installed an IBM computer system. Added Massachusetts
office.
Added sensor group.
1994 Installed bar code inventory system at Nortech.
1995 Installed remote order access entry system.
Celebrated 20th
Anniversary. Included Australia and New
Zealand in territory.
1996 Acquired IDEC Australia. IDEC on World Wide Web. IDEC
USA takes
over European sales.
1998 Moved into new building at 1175 Elko Dr. which
combined distribution
and offices. Added Oracle system and
web system. Installed new
warehouse inventory, management
system. Implemented Champion
Distributor program.
