Remote
Master The Remote Masters are special hardware devices offering remote networking. The Remote Master, and Remote Master Gateway features a Bitbus port, enabling a local network of Bitbus Slaves on the Remote site. The Slavemodules can run as either distributed I/O or as slave units running their own distributed program. (See also fieldbus slave I/O modules) Additional, Remote Masters are equipped with a Modbus Slave port, enabling two-way communication and datatransmission to a central monitoring PC via PSTN, GSM/GPRS or Radiomodem. If connected slaves are equipped with data logging facility, data can be extracted from the individual slaves through the Remote master even via PSTN or GSM/GPRS.

I/O Slave Modules The Brodersen Bitbus slave units, described in this section, can work as simple distributed I/O polled by a Bitbus Master or as intelligent sub units running their own local program. If Local control is enabled, the slave can perform simple control sequences using a IEC-1131-3 programming language. Slave modules are available in many I/O combinations as well as with built in data logging facility if necessary.

Fieldbus
Gateway Modules Brodersen Gateways are communication devices offering translation or protocol conversion between the Bitbus system and a third party piece of hardware, typical a PLC. The BITBUS™ module comes with one RS232 or one RS422/ RS485 port for serial data communication. Normal expansion modules with digital or analogue input/output can be connected independent of the serial ports.

Fieldbus
Operator Panels Brodersen message displays and operator panels provide the operator with relevant information about e.g. operating conditions and actual measured variables, when the plant is operating normally, and alerts the operator in case of a malfunction situation. Bitbus module, a PLC or other controller and converted to clear, simple messages on the display - as fixed texts or as combination of fixed text and current measured variable. Operator panels comes as 2 lines textdisplays with 20 characters in each line and a capacity of up to 200 messages. Each message can include up to 16 dynamic digits and with either 4 or 24 button keyboard.

Power
Supplies This section covers power supplies, used for supplying the Fieldbus or Telemetry controllers with the necessary power to operate or as extra source when a high number of I/O´s are connected to the system. The power supplies and battery chargers are originally designed for the Series 2000 and 4000 products, but are without doubt very useful for other types of hardware that needs a battery and charging system as alternative power source in case of a Mains failure.

I/O
Expansion Modules This section covers an extended range of I/O expansion modules which can be used with all Fieldbus and Telemetry modules in the series 2000 and 4000 range. I/O types are offered as digital input, digital output, relay output, analogue process signal input, analogue process signal output, RTD and thermo couple temperature sensor input etc.

Repeaters The Bitbus repeaters are used for signal regeneration and amplification in order to operate a Bitbus system on distances more than 1200 meters at transmission speed of 65.2 Kbps or more than 300 meters at transmission speed of 375Kbps. Additional repeaters are used to regenerate the Bitbus signal, when the no. of Bitbus slaves connected in a system becomes more than 27 slaves. Finally Repeaters can be used as isolaters, preventing transients from propagating from one area to another in a Bitbus system or to offer isolation, if slaves are placed in different areas having different ground potential. Repeaters uses RS485 communication and can be mounted in both traditional cable wired systems as well as in Optical fibre systems.
