Acquisition of Danish Brodersen Automation
05.03.2007
Beijer Electronics has, through the
Automation business area, signed an agreement to acquire the Danish
automation company Brodersen Automation A/S. The company has an annual
turnover of approximately 65 million SEK and employs approximately 30
people.
− The acquisition is a step in our aggressive move into the Danish
market. This is enabled through the agreement with Mitsubishi Electric,
where we took over their agencies in Denmark, Finland and the Baltic
states from January 1, 2007. Brodersen Automation grants us a broad and
valuable customer base in Denmark while also allowing us a more
comprehensive range of products for the entire Nordic and Baltic market,
says Beijer Electronics CEO Göran Sigfridsson.
Brodersen Automation, founded in 1969, is an agency and distributor of
automation components. Its product range includes, among others,
agencies from Japanese IDEC, Swiss Baumer Electric and Danish Brodersen
Controls. The most important products are control systems, relays and
transmitters. Brodersen Automation is also a distributor of Beijer
Electronics’ operator terminals on the Danish market. Brodersen Controls
A/S is an independent product development company and is not impacted by
the deal.
Approximately 50 million SEK of Brodersen
Automation’s turnover goes to the Danish market, while the remaining 15
million SEK constitute sales through subsidiaries in Sweden and Norway.
Brodersen Automation is a well-known actor in Denmark, with a
country-wide sales organisation. The company has a wide customer base,
with customers in growth markets such as energy and shipping. Brodersen
Automation’s activities in Sweden and Norway shall be integrated with
Beijer Electronics’ existing organisations in each country.
Throughout the years, Brodersen Automation has demonstrated a solid rate
of development. The company, which is based in Roskilde, outside
Copenhagen, will be coordinated with Automation’s newly established
activity in Denmark, which is expected to produce synergistic benefits.
With the acquisition, Beijer Electronics will achieve an annual turnover
of approximately 100 million SEK on the Danish market, with solid
opportunities for continued organic growth. Sellers of the company are
the Brodersen family.
Brodersen Automation will be incorporated into Beijer Electronics’
accounts beginning on 1st April 2007. The acquisition will influence the
group’s turnover positively and is expected to give a small contribution
to the result in 2007.
